OUR STORY
Our Story
Named by 3 reverends that helped establish the community, Friendship Village opened in Dayton, Ohio in 1974. Phase 1 of our development had our first residents move in as a senior Independent Living facility, and we only grew and expanded from there. We evolved to meet the needs of the Dayton community, from being a high-end, non-diverse Independent Living community to a full-continuum, 506-unit accessible Senior Living and Health Care Center for people of all backgrounds, faiths, ethnicities and medical challenges.

Friendship Village is known for being affordable, for its beautiful green spaces and for being the ‘Friendliest Place on Earth’. This is because of our caring, compassionate friendly staff of nearly 200 employees, because it takes a village. Our residents can start in Independent Living at Friendship Village with apartment and cottage living options featuring a variety of floor plans. Our residents live life to the fullest with access to recreational activities, workshops and all-day dining options, as we have excellent chefs and even a campus baker! Residents live with us through all the stages of retirement and aging, and can progress from Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-term Care and even into Palliative and Hospice Care. We serve resident needs through every stage of life. A 101-year-old resident recently passed, and she lived here for 40 years.
At Friendship Village, a Trousdale Living Community, our operational vision focuses on people, purpose, care and community. As such, we believe our residents and patients deserve and receive the most compassionate, professional care we can provide, because they are our family too. It’s a time of rebirth and renewal, and we’re excited about the future, every day, at Friendship Village.
All your needs, with all our hearts.
