36 years ago I entered McKendree Manor through the original Manor that opened to decorative brick wall that enclosed the Sunroom. This is where Ruth first taught me to play the game of Dominoes beyond just lining them up and knocking them down. Just down the hall was the chapel where everyone gathered at 10:00am every Wednesday. Offices closed and we took 30 minutes for the residents and staff to worship as a community. A little further down the hall was the health center and a sitting room where Harriet taught me to play Rook and Virginia told me stories of secretly taking in laundry and sewing while her husband was at work to save up for a refrigerator . This campus is filled with wonderful memories of all the residents I have had the pleasure of serving throughout the years as Director of Campus Activities, Eden Coordinator and now as Director of Sales. It is my pleasure to help seniors transition from their house to our community where there is a stellar recreational and fitness programs, transportation services, chef prepared meals and care services when needed. After so many years, this campus is as much my home as the house I return to each evening.
