Kamion was admitted to Friendship Village after suffering from seizures, which led to deconditioning and poor balance. Learn how our team helped him with a personalized plan of care that included Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy, and how he made significant gains each day. 💪

Background

Kamion, 46, was admitted to the hospital on 3/23 following several seizures within a 2-day span. Upon admission to the hospital, he was severely confused, unable to answer questions, and was nonverbal at times. He suffered global deconditioning and poor balance at the time of his discharge from the hospital on 3/27 making him a high fall risk and unsafe to return home independently. He was referred and admitted to Friendship Village on the same day.

Plan of Care

Upon arrival, our rehab team immediately evaluated Kamion for Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy. His plan of care consisted of strengthening, balance intervention, safety education, gait training, ADL training and cognition intervention to ensure he would make a quick rehabilitation to return home safely by himself. Kamion made significant gains each day and was always excited to go to therapy following breakfast each morning. He made several friends in the therapy gym, and often created competition amongst other residents.

Outcome

Kamion discharged home independently on 4/21
